BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- The UAB women’s golf team hosts 11 other squads at the annual UAB Fall Beach Blast on Monday and Tuesday.
The tournament will take place at the 6,050-yard Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club in Gulf Shores, Ala.
This year’s event, which is a two-day, 36 hole tournament, will include 12 teams – UAB, Tulsa, Central Arkansas, ULM, Houston Baptist, Sam Houston State, Memphis, Austin Peay, Belmont, Alabama State, Southern Miss and McNeese State.
The Blazers enter Monday’s 18-hole, opening round having already played in two tournaments earlier this fall. UAB finished in fourth place at the Grizzly Invitational in Montana on Sept. 9-10. The Blazers then took home a 10th place spot at the Great Smokies Intercollegiate the following week.
Senior Caitlin Watts has led UAB so far. Watts finished in second place at the Grizzly Invitational to begin the fall after firing a UAB single-round record four-under par, 67 on the first day of the event.
