BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After nearly one full month off from competition, the UAB women's golf team returns to the course as the squad competes in the LPGA Xavier Invitational. The 54-hole, three-day event will take place at the LPGA International Golf Course in Daytona Beach, Fla., Oct. 12-14.
The tournament, which gets underway Friday with a 7:30 a.m. CT shotgun start, will be played on LPGA International's par-72, 6178-yard Legends Course, one of two courses on the property.
In addition to UAB, the other teams in the field are host Xavier, Bethune-Cookman, Daytona State, Florida Gulf Coast, Louisiana Monroe, McNeese State, Mercer, North Dakota, North Florida, Northern Kentucky, Old Dominion, South Dakota State and Stetson.
In the Blazers’ last outing, sophomore Margaret Yeh turned in her first career top-10 finish, carding a one-over-par 145 (72/73) to finish tied for ninth. UAB fired back-to-back 15-over par 303 to place ninth as a team at the two-round Great Smokies Intercollegiate, hosted by Western Carolina, in Waynesville, N.C.
Action will resume on Saturday and Sunday with 7:30 a.m. and 7 a.m. CT shotgun starts, respectively. After the first day of competition on Friday, hole assignments will be determined by teams’ 18-hole scores and 36-hole scores.
