UAB Women's Golf Team Plays Host To Lady Blazer Invitational

Birmingham, Ala- The UAB women's golf team will play host to the second annual Lady Blazer Invitational at Inverness Country Club in Birmingham on April 2 and 3, 2001. Sam Houston State won the event last season with a score of 615 over two rounds. Amanda Phillips of Austin Peay won the individual championship with a five-over par 149.

The Blazer Intercollegiate Field: UAB is joined by Troy State, Cincinnati, Arkansas State, Murray State, Mercer, South Alabama, Samford, Austin Peay, Jacksonville State, Montevallo, Western Carolina, Tennessee Tech, and New Orleans in the 14-team field.

The Golf Course: The tournament will be held at the Inverness Country Club and played at 5,979 yards.

Schedule of Events: The Blazers will play practice rounds on Sunday, April 1 at various times. The first round of play will consist of 18 holes on Monday, April 2 and tee times will begin at 9:30 a.m. on both the first and tenth tees. The final 18 holes will be played on Tuesday, April 3 with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. The awards ceremony will immediately follow the final round.

Spectators are welcome and the event is free.
