Women's Golf Set For Lady Eagle Invite

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB women’s golf team returns to action this week when they travel to Hattiesburg, Miss. to take part in the Lady Eagle Invitational on March 11-12.

The two-day, 36-hole tournament hosted by the University of Southern Mississippi will be played at Hattiesburg Country Club.

The 16-team field includes Southern Miss, Austin Peay, Belmont, Jackson State, Louisiana-Monroe, Marshall, Memphis, New Orleans, South Alabama, Stephen F. Austin, Tennessee Tech, Troy, UAB, UT-Pan American, West Florida and William Carey.

In the lineup for the Blazers will be Caitlin Watts, Holly Robinson, Jaime Ritter, Jessica Rouillard, and Lindsey Gipson.

UAB finished ninth in its first tournament of the spring, the USA Women’s Invitational, with a team 36-hole team score of 655. Jaime Ritter led the way for the Blazers with a 17-over-par 161 to finish in a tie for 30th place overall.

UAB has played well in this event in the past, winning the tournament in 2007.

At this tournament last season, UAB finished eighth out of 14 teams with a team score of 647. Caitlin Watts finished in 12th place overall with a two round total of 155 (73-82) to lead the Blazers.

Participants will play 36 holes over two days, with 18-holes being played on Monday and Tuesday, at the par-72 course totaling 6,111 yards.  Play will begin at 8:30 a.m. CT on Monday and 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
