Women's Golf Finishes 12th At C-USA Championship

UAB senior Caitlin Watts fired a 1-under par, 71 in Wednesday's final round.

GULF SHORES, Ala. -- UAB's women's golf team wrapped up play at the 2014 Conference USA Championship with a 12th place finish in the event held at the Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club. 

The Blazers, who fired a 318 (+30) in Wednesday's final round and a 935 (+71) for the tournament, finished ahead of Florida Atlantic, which shot a 955 (+91) in three rounds. Tulane took home the team title with a 54-hole team total of 856 (-8). 

Individually, UAB senior Caitlin Watts had the second-best score of her impressive career at the C-USA Championship. The LaGrange, Ga., native, who shot a 1-under par, 71 on Wednesday, finished tied in 21st place on the individual leaderboard with a 222 (+6) in three rounds. 

Blazer Holly Robinson finished in a tie for 51st place with her 236 (+20) for the event, while freshman Rebecca Chandler fired a 239 (+23) to place 53rd on the individual leaderboard. 

UAB junior Margaret Yeh carded a 243 (+27) for 57th place and Blazer sophomore Jessica Rouillard finished with a 247 (+31) to finish in 61st place. 

UTSA's Fabiola Arriaga, who shot a 209 (-7) for the event, was the individual winner as she joined Gemma Dryburgh (Tulane), Emily Penttila (Tulane), Camino Sardinero (UTEP), Belen Goicoechea (Tulane) and Rachel Walker (Old Dominion) on the 2014 C-USA Championship All-Tournament Team.
