GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Blazers shot a 324 in round two of the Conference USA Women’s Golf Championship on Tuesday, an improvement of five-strokes from their first round score. UAB will tee off in the final round on Wednesday beginning at 8:35 a.m. CT.
After three bogeys in her opening six holes, Caitlin Watts played the final 12 holes at one-over par to finish with a four-over par 76 in round two and move into 36th place individually.
“Caitlin played better today and she has been playing well, she just didn’t chip well yesterday and she practiced that yesterday after the round.,” said head coach Kim Wilcox.
Jaime Ritter is one-stroke behind Watts with a two-round total of 160 after carding an 11-over par 83. Amanda Richey fired the second lowest round of the day for UAB with a nine-over par 81. Jessica Rouillard and Holly Robinson shot rounds of 84 and 87, respectively, to round out the scoring for the Blazers.
“We just need to make some birdies and they practiced their putting yesterday so hopefully we can make some more putts tomorrow,” said Wilcox. “It was windy and the team scores were higher than they were yesterday. I’m glad we handled the wind today because we didn’t handle the wind very well in round one. I am definitely pleased with the improvements from yesterday.”
UAB will conclude the Conference USA Women’s Golf Championship with 18 holes on Wednesday morning. The Blazers will tee off on the 10th hole beginning at 8:35 a.m. CT.
