BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Junior Marissa Ferriera of the UAB bowling team is the UAB Student-Athlete of the Week, as announced on Wednesday. The UAB Student-Athlete of the Week recognizes Blazer student-athletes who standout on and off their respective fields of competition.

Ferriera led the Blazers in their first tournament of the spring, the Mid-Winter Invitational in Jonesboro, Ark. The Lantana, Fla. native bowled a career-high 274, guiding UAB to a 10th place finish.

Outside of the alley, Ferriera excels in the classroom, as well. The psychology major holds a 3.18 cumulative GPA. Last year, she earned Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll accolades.

Ferriera and the Blazers’ bowling team travel to Deland, Fla. for its next tournamentto participate in the Wildcat Invitational hosted by Bethune-Cookman from Feb. 7-9.
