Bowling Concludes Music City Classic

The UAB bowling team earned two wins on the final day.

SMYRNA, Tenn.The UAB bowling team finished 27th at the Columbia 300 Music City Classic after two wins on the final day of competition.

Sunday’s action featured the best-of-seven bracket style play. The Blazers started the day against Louisiana Tech. UAB defeated the Techsters in six games. The team took the win in the first game, 216-160.

Louisiana Tech won the second game, but the Blazers took the next two to take a 3-1 lead. The Techsters took the fifth game, but UAB secured the win with a 176-158 win in the sixth game.

The second match of the day pitted UAB against Bethune Cookman. It was a close match that took all seven games. The Blazers fell in the first game, but rebounded to take the second and the teams tied in the third game.

UAB won the fourth game, 173-148, but Bethune Cookman took two wins in the last three games to edge the Blazers.

The Blazers defeated Howard in five games to close out the day. UAB posted two games over 200, including a team-high 224 in the match.

UAB will prepare for Sectionals that begin this Saturday, March 15 and conclude Monday, March 17.
