JONESBORO, Ark. – The UAB bowling team grabbed a win on the first day of competition at the Mid-Winter Invitational. The Blazers finished 1-4 on the day.
UAB currently sits 11th in the tournament after finishing with a total pinfall of 4,209 on day one. The team started the day strong with a win over Elmhurst in the first match of the baker format.
The Green and Gold posted a score of 871 in the win, while Elmhurst bowled an 829. In the second match, UAB fell to No. 3 Central Missouri 913-891. Then, the Blazers faced No. 10 Sam Houston State, who took the win 1,044-886.
Against No. 14 Valparaiso, the team bowled an 804 but couldn’t top the Crusaders’ 804. UAB and Tulane faced off in the final match of the day, with the Green Wave taking the win 784-757.
UAB will be back in tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. for the traditional team games.
