JONESBORO, Ark. -- The UAB bowling team posted a 1-4 record Saturday on day two of the Mid-Winter Classic hosted by Arkansas State.
The Blazers remained in 15th place in the 16-team field based on total pinfall after the second day, which featured traditional scoring.
UAB owns a record of 3-7 in head-to-head matches following two days of action with a total pinfall of 8,151.
No. 8 Arkansas State (10,253) continues to lead the tournament, followed by two teams tied for sixth in the national rankings, Vanderbilt (9,784) in second place and Central Missouri (9,726) in third. No. 8 Nebraska (9,543) and No. 5 Sam Houston State (9,491) round out the top five.
Leah Walker was the top individual for UAB on Saturday with a five-game total of 954, finishing 32nd among 128 competitors. Marissa Ferreira finished 52nd individually with a total of 860, while Jennafer Mellott (810) and Jamie Cowden (800) finished 56th and 57th, respectively.
The tournament concludes on Sunday with bracket play using the Baker format.
