Junior guard Miranda Burroughs sank four 3-point field goals in a victory against Samford.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Junior guard Miranda Burroughs of the UAB women’s basketball team was named the UAB Student-Athlete of the Week, as announced on Wednesday. The UAB Student-Athlete of the Week recognizes Blazer student-athletes who standout on and off their respective fields of competition.
Burroughs has played in every game this season for the women’s basketball team, starting one. The Polar Bluff, Mo. native is averaging 3.7 points per game for the Blazers in the 2013-14. Earlier this season, Burroughs exploded for a career-best 14 points against Samford in the Red Mountain Rivalry.
Off the court, Burroughs excels in the classroom, as well. The elementary education major owns a 3.62 cumulative GPA.
The UAB women’s basketball team will be back in action on Saturday, Dec. 21 when it hosts George Mason. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Bartow Arena.
