Complete All-Conference USA Team Release

IRVING, Texas - Seniors Karisma Chapman and Ashley Grimes earned All-Conference USA honors for the 2013-14 season, the conference office announced on Sunday. Chapman earned first team honors, while Grimes was named to the second team.

Chapman is the first UAB women's basketball player to be named to the first team since Diamond Rogers in the 2007-08 season and the fifth in school history. The Calumet City, Ill. native leads the Blazers with 20.6 points per game, which ranks fourth in C-USA. She also leads the team in rebounds (9.5) and field goal percentage (.485).

This season, Chapman has amassed 597 points to give her 1,638 in her career and move her into ninth on the all-time scorers list. She has tallied 16 double-doubles this season and has scored over 20 points in 14 games.

Grimes was named to the all-conference second team for the second consecutive year. The 5-foot-9 guard is averaging 14.1 points per game, and leads UAB in assists (95) and steals (55) this season. Grimes reached double figures in 21 games this season, including a career-high 36 points against Memphis.

She earned her first career double-double against East Carolina and added a second double-double in the win over Louisiana Tech after scoring 21 points and bringing down a career-best 12 rebounds.

The pair have combined to lead UAB in scoring in 24 games this season. Chapman and Grimes will lead UAB against the winner of the Florida Atlantic vs. Marshall in the second round of the C-USA Tournament on Wednesday, March 12. The Blazers are slated to tip off at 11 a.m. MT.
