BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB women’s basketball team earned a No. 8 seed in the 2014 Conference USA Women’s Basketball Tournament, the Conference USA announced Friday.
The Blazers will have a first round bye and are slated to play Wednesday, March 12 at 11 a.m. MT/12 p.m. CT in Memorial Gym in El Paso, Texas.
UAB will play the winner of the No. 9 seed Florida Atlantic vs. No. 16 seed Marshall game set for Tuesday, March 11 at 11 a.m. MT/12 p.m. CT. The winner of Wednesday’s game will advance to face regular season champion and No. 1 seed Middle Tennessee on Thursday, March 13 at 11 a.m. MT/12 p.m. CT.
The Blazers enter the tournament with a 15-14 record overall and 7-9 record in C-USA play. Florida Atlantic is 16-13 overall and 6-10 in conference play, while Marshall is 10-19 overall and 3-13 in C-USA action.
The first three rounds will be played in the Memorial Gym on UTEP’s campus. The C-USA Digital Network will broadcast the first, second and quarterfinal round games on Tuesday, March 11, Wednesday, March 12 and Thursday, March 13.
The semifinal and championship games will be played in the Don Haskins Center. Friday’s semifinal games will air on CBS Sports Network at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. (MT). The championship game will be broadcast on CBS on Saturday, March 15 at 6 p.m. MT.
