Matt Fitzpatrick joined the UAB women's basketball program in April of 2013 and serves as the team's co-recruiting coordinator.
A standout player, Fitzpatrick played for UAB head women's basketball coach Randy Norton at Assumption High School, where the two won an Iowa State Championship in 1999.
Fitzpatrick comes to the Blazers from Truman State University, where he was the assistant men's basketball coach for two seasons under head coach Matt Woodley. A former NAIA All-American at St. Ambrose University, Fitzpatrick spent the 2009-11 seasons as the assistant boys' basketball coach at Davenport (Iowa) Assumption High School and the 2005-06 season as the assistant boys' coach at Davenport Central High School. He was also an assistant men's coach as his alma mater, St. Ambrose, during the 2004-05 season.
Other working experiences for Fitzpatrick include a stint at Caterpillar, Inc., where he was a sales representative from 2006 until 2011. In 2009, he was named the national salesman of the year and received the Bruce Stokdyk Award for his accomplishments.
As a player, Fitzpatrick was a four-year standout at St. Ambrose from 2001-04, and was named an NAIA All-American and the Midwest Collegiate Conference Player of the Year during his career.
