Former UAB women's basketball player Laura Waldrop completed her eight year on the Blazer staff as the Director of Basketball Operations in 2013-14. Her duties include overseeing travel arrangements, film exchange and Randy Norton's Basketball Camps.
For the 2014-15 season, Waldrop has taken over as the play-by-play analyst on the radio broadcasts. She took on the role of color commentator for the UAB women's basketball Internet radio broadcasts during the 2007-08 season and has served in that role for the past seven seasons.
Prior to being named Director of Basketball Operations, she spent the 2005-06 season as a student assistant coach for the Blazers.
Waldrop was a three-year letterwinner for UAB despite being hampered by injuries throughout her career. She provided the Blazers with valuable minutes on the hardwood and tallied a career-high six points against Kent State during the 2001 season.
Waldrop began her basketball career as a standout at Prattville High School, averaging 20 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals during her senior campaign. She was honored by the Montgomery Advertiser by being named to the Montgomery All-Metro Team.
The Prattville, Ala., native earned her bachelor's degree in education in 2006 from UAB.
