Becker, a former Virginia player who previously served for two years on Pat Summitt's staff at Tennessee, has responsibilities including recruiting, scouting reports and working with the guards.
Becker has helped UAB climb near the top of Conference USA with the Blazers finishing among the league's top three teams in three of the past six seasons. She helped the program advance to the second round of the WNIT in 2007 and win the Women's Basketball Invitational (WBI) championship in 2011.
Over the past three seasons, Becker has served on a staff that has guided the Blazers to a total of 56 wins, including the program's first 20-win season in a decade in 2010-11. The Blazers enter the 2012-13 season with three consecutive winning years for the first time since the mid-1990s.
Becker spent her collegiate playing career at Virginia when Smith was an assistant on Debbie Ryan's staff. Then Kathy Allen, she received the team's 2002 Leadership Award as the Cavaliers finished third in the Atlantic Coast Conference and advanced to their 19th-straight NCAA tournament.
Becker spent the next two seasons on the Tennessee Lady Vols basketball staff from 2002-04. As a graduate assistant for Summitt, her major focus was assisting with recruiting. During Becker's two years at Tennessee, the Lady Vols went to the NCAA Women's Final Four twice, finishing second in 2003 and 2004.
Becker graduated from UVa's prestigious McIntire School of Commerce in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in commerce and a minor in economics. She was also a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, a National Leadership Honor Society.
Before going to Tennessee, the Boyertown, Pa., native was camp administrator for Ryan's University of Virginia Basketball Camps in 2002, assisting with logistical duties. Prior to graduation, Becker spent two summers working for NIKE as a WNBA Representative in Utah (2000) and Orlando (2001).
Becker and her husband, Pete, were married on Aug. 8, 2009 in Birmingham, Ala. Their son Paxton was born in August 2011.
