Blazers Send Four To Winthrop Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- UAB's men's tennis team will send four players to this weekend's Winthrop Invitational as the Blazers compete in their final tournament of the fall season.

Senior Nick Iannuzzi, sophomore Luiz Felipe Pinto, along with freshmen Matthew Hill and Charles McCombs, will play for UAB in the three-day event that begins Friday and runs through Sunday at Rock Hill, S.C.

Fifteen schools are scheduled to be represented in the tournament.

Iannuzzi and Pinto are entered in the Division I singles draw with the first-year Blazers in the Division II bracket.

Iannuzzi will play his first match Friday when he plays Benjamin Kaszas of Gardner-Webb. Pinto will go against East Tennessee State's Ricardo Pabon.

In the Division II draw, Hill will play Louis Theodor of Kennesaw State while McCombs meets Peter Nagovnak.

The tournament will be contested at two sites: The Winthrop Memorial Courts and the Rock Hill Tennis Center.
