BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB men's tennis team returns to fall action this weekend when the Blazers compete at the Samford Fall Invitational Friday through Sunday at the Samford Tennis Complex.

UAB is one of four teams participating in the three-day event. The Blazers will be joined by the host Bulldogs, Troy and Jacksonville State.

UAB is not expected to play its full roster, according to head coach Derek Tarr. Among the Blazers not expected to compete this weekend are seniors David Zimmerman, Tom Puetz, along with Auburn transfer Rafael Rondino. That trio will return to action next week at the USTA/ITA Southern Regional Championships at Auburn.

The Blazers have played in two fall events thus far, the Dale Short Shootout at Murfreesboro, Tenn. and the Southern Miss Fall Invitational. UAB junior Chris Helliar will see his first competition of the fall after sitting out the first two tournaments due to injury.

"We've had some highlights," said Tarr, "but we need to develop more consistency. We've had some good wins, but I feel like we've also had some losses in matches that I think we should have won."
