Zimmerman Named To All-Conference Tennis Team

David Zimmerman finished the 2013 dual season with an 18-7 singles record.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- UAB senior men's tennis student-athlete David Zimmerman has been named to the 2013 All-Conference USA second team, the league announced on Tuesday.

Zimmerman, from Waldronn, Germany, earned the all-conference honor for the second time in his Blazer career. He also was an all-league freshman as a freshman in 2009.

As a senior this spring, Zimmerman compiled a record of 18-7 at No. 1 singles. Including his fall results, he had a singles mark of 24-10. He posted a streak of 14 consecutive singles victories this season as he helped lead UAB to a 15-11 record. The Blazers spent eight weeks listed in the ITA's national rankings this spring.

Zimmerman also played No. 1 doubles for the Blazers, teaming with fellow senior Tom Puetz. The Blazer duo posted a record of 10-9 during the spring dual season.

Zimmerman has also excelled in the classroom during his career, earning a spot on the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll.
