Men's Tennis Plays In Middle Tennessee Shootout

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The UAB men's tennis team will be back in action this weekend as the Blazers play in the Middle Tennessee Shootout.

The Blazers (9-6) will make the trip north on I-65 for three matches, playing one each on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The Middle Tennessee Shootout will feature an eight-team, tournament-style format that includes a consolation bracket. Friday's matches have been moved indoors to Nashboro Village in Nashville, Tenn.

UAB, coming off three straight victories last week on its spring break trip to the state of Florida and winners of five of its last six matches, is seeded No. 2 in the tournament behind top seeded South Alabama.

The Blazers will play their first match on Friday against No. 7 seed Troy at 2 p.m. The winner will go against the winner of the match between No. 3 seed Illinois State and No. 6 Middle Tennessee on Saturday.

The other teams entered in the tournament and their seeds are as follows: No. 4 DePaul, No. 5 SIU and No. 8 UT Arlington.
