BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB men's tennis team will be looking for its third consecutive victory Friday, but that won't be an easy task as the Blazers face another ranked opponent.
UAB (6-5), winners of back-to-back matches against Southern Miss (5-2) and Belmont (7-0) last week, will play host to the No. 62-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns in a 1:30 p.m. match at the Lakeshore Tennis Center.
Friday's match against the 10-4 Ragin' Cajuns will also be the Blazers' third straight at home. Louisiana is coming off a 4-3 loss at home to No. 55 George Washington last Monday.
UAB is led by senior Chris Helliar. Helliar, who has played primarily at the No. 1 position in the Blazers' lineup this season, will enter Friday's match with a 22-6 singles record, including 6-4 in duals. He is listed at No. 72 in this week's ITA Singles Rankings.
The Blazers have been strong in doubles this season. UAB has won the doubles point nine times in 11 matches thus far.
