BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB men's tennis team will face its toughest challenge to date this season Sunday when the Blazers face the No. 21-ranked Auburn Tigers at the George Ward Tennis Center.
The match is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. after being moved from Saturday due to the threat of inclement weather.
UAB will enter Sunday's match with a 2-2 record after a narrow 4-3 defeat Wednesday afternoon at No. 55 Arkansas. The Blazers have registered victories over Florida A&M (4-2) and Florida Gulf Coast (5-2). Their other loss came at the hands of then No. 32-ranked Florida State (7-0).
Auburn comes to Birmingham with a 4-1 mark. The Tigers won their first four matches before falling to 11th-ranked Mississippi State, 4-3, last Sunday. Auburn has posted wins over Jacksonville State, Mercer, Troy and then No. 23 Indiana.
UAB head coach Derek Tarr, now in his 21st season as the Blazers' coach, is a former All-America player at Auburn.
