MURFREESBORO, Tenn. ----- UAB's men's tennis team was back in action here Friday for its second tournament of the fall season as the Blazers joined Middle Tennessee, Lipscomb and Southern Illinois on the first day at the Dale Short Shootout.

The Blazers went against the Lipscomb Bisons Friday, winning four of seven singles matches and two of three doubles matches.

Rafael Rondino and Luiz Felipe Pinto, along with UAB newcomers Donovan McSeveny and Matthew Hill, were winners in singles Friday.

In doubles, McSeveny teamed with Mitchell Martell to win while Lucas Dirube and Rondino were also victorious.

Blazer senior Chris Helliar, who went 6-0 last weekend en route to winning a Southern Intercollegiate singles title, is not participating in this weekend's tournament.

UAB will be back in action in Murfreesboro Saturday when the Blazer play host Middle Tennessee at 1:30 p.m.
