David Zimmerman split sets in singles before his match at No. 2 singles was suspended.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB men's tennis team dropped its second match in as many days here Wednesday as the Blazers fell to visiting Alabama, 4-0, at George Ward Park.
UAB (16-6), ranked No. 65 in the country, lost the doubles point in a tightly-contested competition with the 48th-ranked Crimson Tide (9-13) winning the deciding match in a tie-breaker at the No. 1 spot.
The teams split at No. 2 and 3 doubles with the Blazers winning at No. 2 and the Tide at No. 3.
Danny Manlow and Daniel Moser were the first to finish in doubles as they took an 8-4 win over the Tide's Vikram Reddy and Carlos Taborga at No. 2. Filippos Tsangaridis and David Vieyra quickly evened the score with an 8-3 victory over Lucas Dirube and Chris Helliar at No. 3 doubles.
Vieyra gave Alabama a 2-0 advantage with his 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 5 singles over Puetz. Doverspike took care of Manlow, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 1 before Michael Thompson clinched the match for the Crimson Tide with a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles over UAB's James Gardner.
The matches at No. 2, 3 and 4 singles were all suspended in progress once Alabama captured its fourth point.
The Blazers will be back in action on Friday when they play host to No. 59 South Alabama at 4:00 p.m. at George Ward Park.
