BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- Senior Chris Helliar won a third-set tie-breaker in his No. 2 singles match to lift the UAB men's tennis team a 4-3 victory over No. 73 Tulane Saturday at the Lakeshore Tennis Center.

Helliar, who improved his singles record on the year to 19-4 and is No. 86 in the ITA Rankings, rallied after losing the first set to down the Green Wave's Sebastian Rey, 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (4). Helliar's comeback win gave the Blazers the victory and evened the team's record at 3-3 on the season.

Tulane saw its record drop to 5-2.

UAB, which will play host to UTSA on Sunday at 11 a.m., won the doubles point against the Green Wave to take a 1-0 lead. Helliar teamed with Mitchell Martell at No. 2 doubles to defeat Rey and Alex Van Cott, 8-6.
