UAB soccer freshman defender Kareem Morgan has been invited to participate in tryouts for the Canadian Under-20 National Team.

Morgan, from Pickering, Ontario, played in 14 matches this past season for the Blazers. He helped UAB to allow just just 1.1 goals per game.

The Blazers were 14-5-2 and advanced to the first round of the NCAA Tournament as an at-large selection. It was the second straight year UAB advanced to the tourney.

"I felt he improved greatly during the season," UAB head coach Mike Getman said. "It is great to see the coaches of the Canadian National Team saw that improvement and are giving him a chance."

This is just one of a series of honors UAB's players have won in the post-season. Rumbani Munthali has been named to two different All-American squads. Goalkeeper David Clemente was named Conference USA's defensive player of the year and to the All-South Team. Both Munthali and Clemente were first team All-C-USA.

In addition three other members of the team were named All-Conference USA. Roberto Najarro and Houston Smith were both named third team All-C-USA. Marin Pusek was named to the all-freshman team.
