BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
The No. 15 UAB men's soccer team will face former Conference USA rival Memphis on Wednesday night on the road. The match is slated to start at 7:00 p.m. CT in Memphis, Tenn.

UAB is looking to avenge a 3-1 loss to the Tigers in the 2012 regular season finale. In addition, Memphis took home top honors at the Blazers' home tournament, the 2013 UAB "Soccer for a Cure" Classic, earlier in the season. The two teams did not face off in the event.

Blazers Score First C-USA Victory Of 2013
UAB recorded its first Conference USA win of the season with a 2-1 victory against Kentucky on Sunday, Sept. 29. With the win, UAB has won its past three games, matching its longest winning streak of the year.

Redshirt junior midfielder Alex Clay and sophomore defender Ian Svantesson each scored a goal in the match for the Blazers. It marked the second straight game Clay had registered a goal.

With seven seconds remaining in the match, the Blazers surrendered its first goal since the East Tennessee game on Sunday, Sept. 15. The squad went 298:44 without allowing an opponent to score.

Clay Wins C-USA Offensive Player Of The Week
UAB redshirt junior midfielder Alex Clay was named the Conference USA Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday, Sept. 30. This marks the second time this season a Blazer has earned this recognition.

Clay led the UAB men's soccer team to two victories this past week. On Wednesday, Sept. 25, the Huntsville, Ala. native tallied a career-best three points on one goal and one assist against Belmont. It marked the first time Clay registered a goal since the 2010 season. On Sunday, Sept. 29, Clay scored his second goal in two games as UAB recorded a 2-1 win against in-conference foe Kentucky.

Through eight matches, Clay has two goals and four assists. The redshirt junior midfielder leads the squad in assists and is tied for third on the team in goals.
