BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – UAB redshirt junior midfielder Alex Clay was named the Conference USA Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. This marks the second time this season a Blazer has earned this recognition.
Clay led the UAB men’s soccer team to two victories this past week. On Wednesday, Sept. 25, the Huntsville, Ala. native tallied a career-best three points on one goal and one assist against Belmont. It marked the first time Clay registered a goal since the 2010 season. On Sunday, Sept. 29, Clay scored his second goal in two games as UAB recorded a 2-1 win against in-conference foe Kentucky.
Through eight matches, Clay has two goals and four assists. The redshirt junior midfielder leads the squad in assists and is tied for third on the team in goals.
UAB is back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 2 in Memphis. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. CT.
