Men's Soccer Earns National Recognition

Head coach Mike Getman has had the Blazers in the national polls 18 of the past 20 years.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - For the first time in 2013, the UAB men's soccer team was ranked in the national polls. The Blazers have appeared in the national rankings at least once 18 of the past 20 seasons.

The Green and Gold were ranked No. 18 in the most recent NSCAA/Continental Tire Poll, while they were No. 23 in the Soccer America Rankings.

In addition, redshirt senior Patrick Huang was named to the National Team of the Week for his performances at the VCU Nike Classic. Huang registered two goals and an assist in Richmond, leading the team to two victories.

UAB is back in action when they host Indiana, the 2012 national champions, in their home opener on Friday, Sept. 6. The match is slated to start at 7:30 p.m. at West Campus Field.
