BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Men’s soccer player Patrick Huang has been named the UAB Student-Athlete of the Week. This marks the first time Huang has earned the accolade, which recognizes Blazers who succeed in both the classroom and on the field.
Huang, a redshirt senior midfielder from Huntsville, Ala., made his UAB debut this past weekend at the VCU Nike Classic. He made an immediate impact, scoring two goals against High Point on Sunday afternoon and adding an assist on Friday night versus then-No. 24 VCU.
In the classroom, Huang excels, as well. He is an exercise science major and owns a GPA of 3.31 at UAB and a cumulative GPA of 3.43. Huang was named to the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll in 2012, as well. To be recognized, one must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
