BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The No. 21 UAB men's soccer team will play its third and final exhibition contest of the 2012 preseason when it hosts the VCU Rams on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at West Campus Field.

The Blazers are unbeaten in preseason play (1-0-1), as they tied No. 7 Louisville (Aug. 12) and defeated Montevallo (Aug. 16). Senior defender Mladen Lemez leads the team with a pair of goals, while junior Moses Adeniran and freshman Ian Svantesson each recorded a pair of assists in the two-game exhibition season.

VCU will be playing its first exhibition game of the year when it comes to Birmingham. The Rams return a talented core of players from last season's 11-9 squad. Leading the way will be a pair of 2011 All-Colonial Athletic Association performers in sophomore Juan Monge Solano and junior Jason Johnson.

Third-year head coach Dave Giffard will be back in familiar territory when he steps onto the West Campus Field pitch. Giffard spent five seasons as an assistant coach under head coach Mike Getman at UAB (2000-04).

Student who present a valid school ID will be served a free dinner from Full Moon BBQ beginning at 6 p.m.
