2014 Recruiting Class Rankings

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB men’s soccer was recognized by College Soccer News for having one of the top 40 recruiting classes in the nation, as announced on Sunday, April 6. According to the outlet, UAB has the No. 30 recruiting class in the country.

This year’s recruiting class includes five members of five different national teams and the 2013 goal-scoring leader in junior college soccer. Michael Awaah, Lawson Crider, Mathieu Laurent, DeAndre Robinson, David Valverde, and William White all will join the Blazers’ program in 2014.

"This is a fantastic recruiting class that fills all of our needs," head coach Mike Getman stated at the time of their signing. "Adding five players with national team experience along with an NSCAA All-American is very unique. I don't think there is a better class anywhere in the nation."

UAB returns its top three scorers for the 2014 season in Freddy Ruiz, Alex Clay, and Diego Navarrete. The trio each earned All-Conference USA accolades last season, highlighted by Ruiz’s first-team selection and Clay’s Golden Boot Award, given to the conference’s leading scorer in league action.
