Mike Keeney joined the UAB men's soccer program for his first tour of duty with the Blazers in 2005 and helped the Blazers to a 10-7-1 mark. He came to UAB after serving as director of coaching and player development for the Hoover Soccer Club in Birmingham.
An experienced college and youth coach, Keeney was an assistant men's soccer coach at the University of Kentucky from 2000-03 where he was responsible for scheduling, on-field coaching and recuiting for the Wildcats. He served in a similar role at the University of Louisville from 1997-99. Prior to UofL, Keeney was an assistant women's soccer coach at Bellarmine College in Louisville.
A veteran youth and club coach, Keeney served as director of coaching and player development for the Bluegrass Soccer Club in Versailles, Ky., from 2000-03 and was a staff coach and team trainer for Javanon Soccer Club in Louisville from 1996-2000. He has received his USSF "B" coaching license and is certified to instruct for state coaching licenses.
Keeney is a native of Westwood, N.J., was raised in New York and California and graduated from Antioch (Calif.) High School where he was an all-conference soccer performer. He played collegiately at both Southern Colorado and Campbellsville (Ky.).
