Blazer Men's Golf Finishes Fifth of Twenty-Four Teams At VCU Fall Preview

The UAB men's golf team shot a final round 289 today to move up three spots into fifth place at the Virginia Commonwealth University Fall Preview. In the twenty-four team field, UAB was only surpassed by winner Virginia Tech (287-290/577), College of Charleston (296-287/583), UVC (295-292/587), and Furman (290-297/587).

Firing a three-under par round of 69 today, sophomore Graeme McDowell finished in a tie for third with a total of 143, one-under par. McDowell was just one stroke off the pace off the winner Brendon De Jonge of Virginia Tech who shot a 142 total and defeated Travis Mobley of Georgia Southern in a playoff. This marks the third time this season that McDowell has finished tied for third.

Tied for 14th, junior Payton Osborn shot scores of 74-72 for a 146, two-over par total. Next in line for the Blazers was sophomore Daniel Ozley who shot rounds of 74-73 to finish one shot back of Osborn and tied for 20th.

Other Blazer scores include Craig Gordon (80-75/155) who tied for 79th and Connor Doran (78-79/157) who tied for 92nd.

The Blazers will play their last tournament of the Fall on October 29-31 as Louisiana State University hosts the 2000 Country Club of Louisiana Intercollegiate.
