BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – UAB junior golfer Paul Dunne was recognized as the Conference USA Men’s Golfer of the Week, the conference office announced on Wednesday. This marks the third time this season that a UAB golfer has earned this honor.
On Tuesday, Oct. 22, Dunne captured individual medalist honors at the Georgetown Intercollegiate. The junior scored a 209 (-4) at the three-round event, securing a two-stroke victory. It marked the first time in Dunne’s collegiate career that he recorded a first-place finish. In addition, the Greystones, Ireland native finished in the top 20 for the third straight tournament.
Dunne owns a 71.25 stroke average for the 2013-14 season. His lowest round of the season came in the second round of the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate, hosted by Graeme McDowell, on Monday, Sept. 30. Dunne fired a 68 (-2).
UAB will open its spring season at the Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. The University of Florida’s home tournament is set for February 14-15.
