BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB men’s golf team will wrap up its fall season at the Georgetown Intercollegiate. The three-round event will run from Monday, Oct. 21 through Tuesday, Oct. 22.
“We have played really well so far,” head coach Alan Murray stated. “I think we learned a lot at the last round at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate. I kind of knew it already, but maybe they proved it to themselves. They are tough. They dug really deep in that last round. To finish third there, that is added confidence. To play so well in a really elite field, that is good.”
The Blazers are coming off its third consecutive top-three performance of the fall, finishing in third place at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate. Senior Wilson McDonald took home individual medalist honors, as well.
UAB will use the same lineup it has in the past three events. McDonald and fellow seniors Sam Love and Thomas Sutton, junior Paul Dunne, and sophomore Martin Rohwer will head to the nation’s capital.
“The good thing about our players, all of our boys are hungry,” added Murray. “They all have performed well, so far. It is a genuine team effort. We have got a good team. On any given week, one of them can beat all of the other guys. As a coach, I am really lucky.”
The tournament, held at The Members Club at Four Streams in Beallsville, Md., will begin on Monday morning. UAB and the rest of the field will play two rounds on Monday.
