BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Graeme McDowell of the UAB men's golf team was ranked seventh on the latest Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index. A native of Portrush, N. Ireland, McDowell has been a tremendous leader for the Blazers so far this season propelling them to eighth spot on the index.
At the Inverness Intercollegiate on September 18-19 in Toledo, Ohio, McDowell shot a final round 72 to place tied for third. McDowell's total of 217 was four strokes off the pace of winner Scott Hayes of Michigan. The Blazers finished fifth in the tournament.
At the Pacific Invitational on October 2-3 in Stockton, Calif., the Blazers finished second with McDowell finishing the tournament at six-under-par and tied for third. McDowell was three shots behind tournament champion J. R. Ruda of California.
In just two tournaments, McDowell's scoring average is 71.2 shooting a low round of 69 at the Pacific Invitational.
