UAB has had early season success in its two events this season. The Blazers opened the 2011-12 campaign by capturing the Sam Hall Intercollegiate in Hattiesburg, Miss. with a team total of 16-under par 836. The following weekend, UAB placed second overall at the Saint Mary's Intercollegiate in Monterey, Calif.

The same five golfers who played at the Saint Mary's Intercollegiate will represent UAB this week in Jason Shufflebotham, Thomas Sutton, Hunter Hawkins, Paul Dunne and Sam Love.

The event will be played on the par-70, 7,204-yard course with two rounds on Monday with the final 18 holes on Tuesday morning.

The Jerry Pate Intercollegiate began back in 1986 and is named for the most successful professional golfer in Crimson Tide history. Pate currently plays on the Champions Tour and is active in the team selection for the tournament.

The Crimson Tide have won the event four of the last five years, with Auburn claiming the team title in 2010.
