OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Former UAB men’s golfer Zack Sucher won the Tour’s Midwest Classic on Sunday at the Nicklaus Golf Course at LionsGate. Sucher recorded a 265 (-19) for a three-stroke victory.

Sucher’s victory on Sunday was his first win on the Tour. His previous best finish was a second-place showing at the 2013 South Georgia Classic Presented by First State Bank and Trust Company.

The Mobile, Ala. native opened the four-round event with a 66 (-5) on Thursday, July 24 at the par-71 course. Sucher improved on his first-round effort with an astonishing eight-under par second round. Coupled with a third-round 64 (-7), Sucher held a three-stroke lead heading into the final day of play. He never surrendered his advantage on Sunday, shooting a 72 (+1) to secure his first title on the Tour.

Sucher looks to be in prime position to earn his 2015 PGA Tour card following the Midwest Classic. Entering the weekend, Sucher was 20th on the Tour Money List. The top-25 on the tour money list at the end of the season automatically earn cards for the PGA Tour.
