BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Junior R.J. Keur is set to represent the UAB men’s golf team this week at NCAA Regionals hosted by LSU in Baton Rouge, La. The three-day tournament at University Club will be played Monday through Wednesday, May 15-17.

Keur, who is playing in his third NCAA Regional overall and his first as a Blazer, tees off on Monday morning at 10:12 a.m. CST and is paired with Bennett Wisner of Loyola (Md.) and Kirabo Reed of Alabama State.

“This is R.J.’s third straight appearance at NCAA Regionals so he is familiar with this setting,” head coach Mike Wilson said. “It’s always good to compete at the highest level and I expect him to perform very well this week.”

Keur received one of the five individual berths into the Baton Rouge Regional and will have to be the top finisher of that group of five to advance to Nationals. There were 14 teams selected to the regional and the field will consist of 75 golfers. The top five teams will move on to Nationals.

The teams in the Baton Rouge Regional include: LSU, Oregon, Virginia, Jacksonville, Kentucky, South Florida, Loyola (Md.), Alabama State, Duke, Northwestern, Arkansas, Iowa, Georgia State and Jacksonville State.

The Blazers have now had representation at NCAA Regionals for seven straight years. Keur, a First Team All-Conference USA performer, led UAB in four of the seven spring tournaments this season and owns a team-best 72.5 stroke average.
