R.J. Keur Selected for Men’s Golf NCAA Regional

May 4, 2017

INDIANAPOLIS - Junior R.J. Keur will represent the UAB men’s golf program at NCAA Regionals as Keur was selected to participate in the Baton Rouge Regional as an individual.

Based on Keur’s Golfstat ranking, he was one of 45 individual players invited to NCAA Regionals which features six locations with a total of 81 teams and the additional individual qualifiers.

Six 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted May 15-17. Thirteen teams and ten individuals not on those teams will compete at each of three regionals while the other three regionals will have 14 teams and five individuals not on those teams. The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals.

Team and individual medalist titles will be decided May 26-31 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Illinois. Northern Illinois University is the host institution for the 2017 championships.

Keur will be joined at University Club in Baton Rouge by Peng Pichaikool (Mississippi State), Zan Luka Stirn (Arkansas State), Zander Lozano (UTSA) and Albert Badosa-Soler (Nicholls State) as the individual qualifiers.

Those five will play alongside 14 teams that qualified, including: LSU, Oregon, Virginia, Duke, Northwestern, Arkansas, Jacksonville, Kentucky, South Florida, Iowa, Georgia State, Jacksonville State, Loyola University (Md.) and Alabama State.

The NCAA selection for Keur caps off a big day for the mid-year addition as he was named a First Team All-Conference USA performer earlier this morning. He and Taylor Eyster earned All-Conference USA honors. Click here to read the complete release.

Keur participated in seven spring tournaments for the Blazers and posted a team-best 72.5 stroke average. He was UAB’s top finisher in four of those seven tournaments and placed second overall in two of them.

This is the seventh straight year UAB will represented at NCAA Regionals either as an individual or team participant.
