STATESBORO, Ga. ----- The UAB men’s golf team will travel to Statesboro, Ga. on March 15-17 to compete in the Schenkel Invitational hosted by Georgia Southern at Forest Heights Country Club.
The 15-team field includes Alabama, UAB, Central Florida, College of Charleston, Florida, Georgia Southern, Kentucky, Maryland, Ole Miss, North Florida, North Texas, Notre Dame, Texas, Vanderbilt and Virginia.
The field features seven teams that are currently ranked in the top-50 of the Golfweek rankings: No. 2 Alabama, No. 4 Texas, No. 11 Florida, No. 15 North Florida, No. 33 North Texas, No. 38 Vanderbilt and No. 46 Central Florida. The field also includes 14 individuals that rank in the top-50.
Sutton, who played as an individual, carded a team-low score of 144, even par, at the rain-shortened John Hayt Collegiate Invitational a couple weeks ago to finish in a tie for 12th place. The Blazers finished in a tie for 11th as a team.
UAB will be playing with Georgia Southern and Florida this weekend.
Participants will play 54 holes over three days, 18 holes on each day, at the par-72 course totaling 6,962 yards. Play will begin at approximately 9 a.m. ET on the first two days and 8 a.m. ET on Sunday.
