Men's Golf Back In Action At John Hayt

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The No. 13 UAB men’s golf team returns to the links on Sunday, Feb. 23 at the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. The three-round event runs until Tuesday, Feb. 25 at the Sawgrass Country Club.

Head coach Alan Murray will send out seniors Sam Love, Wilson McDonald, and Thomas Sutton, junior Paul Dunne, and sophomore Will Cannon at the par-72, 7,001-yard course. Redshirt sophomore Ryan Davies will participate in the event as an individual, as well.

This year’s edition of the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational will mark the squad’s 10th straight appearance at the event. UAB tied for fourth place in 2007, its best finish at the tournament. Last year, the team finished in a tie for 11th place.

In the program’s last outing, UAB finished in a tie for fifth place at the SunTrust Gator Invitational. McDonald led the way, finishing in a tie for 14th place.

The first round of the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational kicks off on Saturday morning. Live scoring will be available via Golfstat.com.
