JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - Senior Blake West recorded a one-under par 71 to lead the UAB men's golf team during Sunday's final round of the Bank of Tennessee at the Ridges tournament. As a team, the Blazers carded a score of 912 (306-305-301) and placed 15th overall.

West was the highlight of the day for UAB, as the Montgomery, Ala. native recorded the team's low round of the tournament with the one-under par effort during Sunday's final 18 holes. As a result, West closed the three-day, 54-hole event tied for 49th overall with a nine-over par 225 (76-78-71).

Senior Adam West finished just behind his twin brother, carding a 229 (77-76-76) to finish tied for 65th on the par 72, 7,147-yard Ridges Golf Course. Sophomore Blake Watts tied for 71st overall with a 232 (80-75-77), while freshman Austen Dailey rounded out UAB with a 233 (76-79-78). Freshman Philip Kaiser, playing as an individual, finished with a 239 (79-77-83).

The three-day, 54-hole event was arguably the most challenging UAB will face during the fall season. The field featured 11 teams ranked among the top 50 in the nation entering the weekend.

The 21st-ranked Vols tied for the team championship with 13th-ranked Oregon State, as the two teams finished the third and final round tied at 3-under-par 861. Tennessee was declared the winner based on head-to-head scoring for each of the teams' fifth player. It marks the third time the Vols have captured the BOT Intercollegiate title. Virginia, ranked 26th in the country, was third with an 863, while No. 23 Virginia Tech (866) and Duke (869) rounded out the top five.

While Tennessee and Oregon State battled it out in the team competition, the Beavers' Diego Velasquez left no drama on the individual leaderboard. Leading from start to finish, Velasquez ended the event at 10-under 206 (66-70-70) and won by seven strokes over a trio of players tied at 3-under 213.

The Blazers will play their final fall tournament on Oct. 26-27, when they travel to Baton Rouge, La. to compete at the David Toms Intercollegiate.
