JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - The UAB men's golf team remains in 15th after the second round of the Bank of Tennessee at the Ridges on Saturday. The Blazers improved by one stroke from Friday's opening round score, and now have a team score of 611 (306-305) on the par 72, 7,144-yard Ridges Golf Course.
The Blazers were led by a pair of seniors in Adam West (77-76) and John Darby (77-76), who are in a tie for 64th overall after shooting identical scores with a nine-over par 153. Senior Blake West is in 73rd overall with a 10-over 154 (76-78), while sophomore Blake Watts (80-75) and freshman Austen Dailey (76-79) are currently in a tie for 74th with a 155.
Oregon State, ranked No. 13 in the nation entering the event, is tied with No. 21 Tennessee for the second round lead, with both teams at nine-under par 567. They will hold a five-stroke advantage over third-place No. 26 Virginia (572). Unranked Missouri is in fourth with a 576, while No. 43 Virginia Tech rounds out the top five with a 577.
Oregon State's Diego Velasquez, ranked No. 16 in the nation, held onto his overall lead in the event. Velasquez finished the opening round with an impressive six-under par 66, followed that on Saturday with a two-under par 70 and currently holds a three-stroke lead over the field with an eight-under par 136.
