Round Two Results

TANAGURA, Japan –
The UAB men’s golf team is in second place at the Topy Cup after two days of competition in Japan. The Blazers recorded a 271 (-9) on Wednesday at the Tanagura Country Club.

No. 5 Washington leads the tournament with a score of 134 (-16). UAB trails the fifth-ranked program in the country by one stroke after two rounds of play.

Individually, senior Sam Love has led the charge for the Green and Gold. After a first-round 65 (-5), Love was on top of the individual leaderboard. On Wednesday, he tallied one eagle and three birdies against two bogeys, his first two of the event, en route to a 67 (-3), which kept him in first place. Love has a two-shot advantage heading into Thursday’s final round.

Fellow senior Wilson McDonald recorded the lowest score for the Blazers on the day. McDonald fired a 66 (-4), a career-low round, to put him at three-under par for the tournament. He is currently in a three-way tie for eighth place.

Redshirt senior Thomas Sutton rebounded from a first-round 71 (+1) and was three-under par on Wednesday. Along with teammate Martin Rohwer, Sutton is tied for 11th place at two-under par through two rounds.

Rohwer and junior Paul Dunne completed the Blazers’ lineup on Wednesday, each registering a 71 (+1). Dunne is in 21st place after shooting a 142 (+2).

The team will return to the course Thursday for the third and final round of the Topy Cup.
