May 16, 2017

BATON ROUGE, La. - After the second round of the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional host by LSU at The University Club, R.J. Keur of the UAB men’s golf team is tied for 33rd overall.

Keur dropped 11 spots from yesterday’s opening round and shot a five-over in round two which currently has him at +7 for the tournament.

To reach the NCAA National Championship Tournament, Keur will have to be the top individual finisher excluding those golfers who are on the top five teams which earn automatic bids into nationals.

With 18 holes remaining, LSU leads the field at (-4) and is followed by Duke (+3), Virginia (+4), Northwestern (+12) and Oregon (+12).

Individually, Sam Burns (-7) of LSU continues to pace all golfers and as has built a five shot lead over Alex Smalley of Duke who moved up six places today into second at -2.

Keur’s round, which began on the back nine, did not start according to plan as he carded a triple bogey on 10 followed by a bogey on 11.

The junior recovered nicely though and shot +1 on the final 16 holes which included three birdies and four bogeys.

Tomorrow’s final round of the Baton Rouge Regional begins at 7:50 a.m. and Keur will tee off at 9:53 a.m. Click here for live results.
