Men's Golf Team Finishes Ninth at Gator Invitational

Sutton and the Blazers will return to action on Feb. 24-26 at the John Hayt Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. ----- Freshman Martin Rohwer fired a final round one-under par 69 to lead the Blazers at the 2013 SunTrust Gator Invitational. As a team, UAB carded a three round total of 862 (283-290-289) to finish ninth out of 14 teams.

Rohwer (71-71-69) improved his standing on the individual leaderboard in each round finishing the 54-hole tournament in a tie for 10th place after recording a team-best one-under par 69 on Sunday.

Redshirt-junior Thomas Sutton and Sophomore Paul Dunne both shot four-over par rounds of 74 on Sunday. Sutton finished in a tie for 25th place with a score 216 (+6) while Dunne carded a 217 (+7) to finish tied for 33rd place. Juniors Sam Love and Wilson McDonald each tied for 51st place ending the tournament at 221 (+11).

Florida State won the team competition with a final total of eight-under par 832. North Florida (847) finished 15 strokes behind the Seminoles in second place, and South Alabama rounded out the top three with a 54-hole total of 20-over par 850.

Individually, Florida State placed two golfers in the top three. Daniel Berger carded a final round five-under par 65 to finish seven-under for the tournament, three strokes clear of Georgia Southern's Scott Wolfes who finished second at four-under par. FSU's Doug Letson and North Florida's MJ Maguire finished tied for third at two-under par.

UAB will be back in action on Feb. 24-26 when the Blazers travel to Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. to compete in the John Hayt Invitational.
