BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB football team worked out for nearly two hours in shorts and shoulder pads Tuesday afternoon at the Blazer practice fields as head coach Garrick McGee's squad looks ahead to Saturday's season finale against UCF.
The Blazers will take on the Knights at Brighthouse Networks Stadium with kickoff set for 12:00 p.m. ET/11:00 a.m. CT. The contest will be televised by Fox Sports Net.
UAB will be looking to close out its season on a positive note and bounce back from last Saturday's disappointing 46-9 loss at home to Memphis. The loss to the Tigers followed back-to-back impressive wins for the Blazers over Southern Miss and Marshall.
"We won a couple games, and I really do think that I backed off," McGee said. "I thought that things were headed in the right direction and I was starting to see signs of our team coming to life, so I turned down some of the intensity and some of the pressure."
In UCF, UAB will be facing one of the top teams in the conference. The Knights will be looking to clinch the C-USA East Division title Saturday.
"They've got a lot of very good players," McGee said. "They have a really sound scheme, it's not complex at all on offense or defense. They just do what they do and they do it very well. When you're playing teams like that, you have to make sure you're playing the game the way you're supposed to be playing, which is exactly where we need to go anyway this week."
