BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB football team held a physical, 19-period practice Tuesday afternoon as it began on-field preparations for its season finale matchup at Marshall on Saturday. UAB head coach Neil Callaway told the media Tuesday that he likes his team's intensity as it attempts to beat Marshall for the first time.
"It was ok today," Callaway told the media following practice. "I think the effort and intensity was good, but we're not as sharp as we need to be. It was a good effort day though, we got after it pretty good."
The Blazers enter their final game of the season with a record of 2-9 (1-6 C-USA). Despite the team's struggles, Callaway said his team's work ethic in practice hasn't faded.
"I think it's all a state of mind," Callaway said when asked about where his team is at mentally at this stage of the season. "We could all sit around and make excuses and complain, but it's just a matter of what you mentally want to do."
The Blazers and Thundering Herd will kick off at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday to close out the regular season.
Radio coverage of the game can be heard on the Blazers' ISP Sports Network flagship station WUHT 107.7 FM. The broadcast can also be heard on affiliates WIQR 1410 AM in Montgomery, WTRB 98.3 FM in Talladega and WACT 1420 AM in Tuscaloosa.
